How to Obtain a Highly Skilled Migrant Visa in the Netherlands

 If you are looking to move to the Netherlands as a highly-skilled migrant, you will need to obtain a Highly Skilled Migrant Visa. This visa is designed for highly skilled workers who want to live and work in the Netherlands. In order to be eligible for this visa, you must meet certain criteria.

First, you must have a valid passport from your country of citizenship. Second, you must have a job offer from a Dutch employer or be self-employed in the Netherlands. Third, you must have sufficient financial means to support yourself during your stay in the Netherlands. Fourth, you must have health insurance that covers your medical expenses during your stay in the Netherlands. Finally, you must be able to demonstrate that you have enough knowledge of the Dutch language to be able to communicate effectively in day-to-day situations.

Application process

 

If you meet all the above criteria, you can apply for a highly skilled migrant visa. The application process is as follows:

– You must first register with the Highly Skilled Migrants Registration Office (HSO).

– You will then be given a personal identification number (PIN).

– With your PIN, you can log in to the Highly Skilled Migrants Portal and complete your application.

– After your application has been processed, you will be contacted by the Dutch Immigration. And Naturalisation Service (IND) to schedule an appointment for an interview.

– Once you have successfully completed the interview, you will receive a decision from the IND within four weeks. If your application is successful, you will be issued with a residence permit valid for up to five years.

After meeting all the above requirements, you can start accumulating points under the Highly Skilled Migrant visa in Netherland. Four categories can be used to earn points: age, education, previous employment, salary, and experience working in a shortage occupation.

You can apply for a Highly Skilled Migrant visa from your local Dutch embassy or consulate once you have accumulated enough points.

Naturalisation Service (IND).

After arriving in the Netherlands, you must register with the municipality in which you intend to live and apply for a residence permit at the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

Even before you move to the Netherlands, your employer can file a fast-track residence application on your behalf as a highly-skilled migrant.

Often called knowledge workers, highly skilled migrants contribute to the knowledge-based economy in the Netherlands. A high level of income is required to qualify as a highly-skilled migrant in the Netherlands. IND sponsors must also be recognized by your employer.

Depending on your nationality, you may need a provisional residence permit (MVV) to enter the Netherlands. And a residence permit to stay longer than three months. The Entry and Residence Procedure (TEV) allows your employer (your sponsor) to apply for both permits at the same time.

Dutch provisional residence permits (MVV) are required for entering the Netherlands, or if you only need to apply for a Dutch residence permit.

If you meet all of the above criteria, you can apply for a Highly Skilled Migrant Visa at your nearest Dutch embassy or consulate. You will need to submit a number of documents with your application, including your passport, proof of financial means, health insurance, and job offer (if applicable). The processing time for this visa is typically around eight weeks. Once your visa has been approved, you will be able to live and work in the Netherlands for up to five years. After five years, you may apply for permanent residence status in the Netherlands.
