Makeup that Lasts All Day: 9 Tips

Whether you have oily or dry skin, you may experience fading or distortion of your makeup throughout the day. Make your makeup last all day with these tips and beauty techniques.

Create a long-lasting makeup look with these beauty hacks:

 Take this scenario into account.

  1. Powder your face to set your makeup.

Concealer setting powders are loose powders with mattifying properties that prevent your face makeup from smudging through the day. Set your makeup with a setting powder that matches your skin tone. Use a powder brush dipped in your setting powder to brush your jawline, cheeks, forehead, and nose. If your skin is prone to oil buildup, apply a thin layer of translucent powder to the T-zone and chin.

  1. Set with setting spray.

If you have dry skin, you may prefer a setting spray over a setting powder since the latter gives your face a dewy appearance and sets your eye shades and lipstick. After you have applied your beauty hacks, spray two spritzes of a makeup setting spray six inches from your face.

  1. Do not overdo the makeup.

You are more likely to lose your beauty products throughout the day if you apply a lot of makeup. Full coverage should not be achieved with thick layers of foundation that do not adhere to the skin and slide off the face after a few hours. If you’re applying makeup, apply a thin layer and dab it into your skin with your finger or a makeup sponge. You can invest in long-wearing makeup that delivers intense pigment without requiring excessive layerings, such as waterproof mascara and long-wear eyeliner.

4: Make sure that your makeup products are up to date.

It is easier for fresh products to adhere to your skin’s surface. Be sure to check the expiration date on your products.  Products that are dry, crumbly, or hardened are signs that they have expired.

5: Get rid of dead skin cells by exfoliating.

When the skin is exfoliated, makeup adheres better. If your skin is dry, patchy, or bumpy, exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, but do not overdo it. If you have oily skin, exfoliate three times a week, and if you have dry skin, exfoliate twice a week.

6: Use a primer to prepare the surface.

Before applying makeup, prep your face with primer after going through your skincare routine. In addition to sealing in moisture, primer helps the foundation adhere to the skin. There is a variety of primers available at drugstores and beauty counters; look for one that locks in moisture and is long-lasting Put a pea-size amount of face primer on your face and spread it evenly.

7: Eyeshades should be applied with a dedicated primer.

A dedicated eye-area primer helps your eye beauty last throughout the day by keeping foundation, concealer, cream blush, bronzer, and highlighter in place. Shades for your eyes should be applied with an eye shadow primer.

8:  Excess oil can be removed with blotting papers.

Over time, oil build-up on the skin is one of the leading causes melting. Make sure your face is oil-free by using blotting paper. Use an oil-free foundation or primer if your skin is naturally oily.

9: Your skin type should be taken into account when choosing products.

You can keep looking fresh throughout the day by using beauty products that suit your skin type. Use the best makeup products that hydrate your skin, such as hyaluronic acid-based liquid foundations. Dry skin needs extra hydration to prevent makeup from flaking off and peeling. Using a mattifying foundation powder with salicylic acid can help prevent oil build-up and breakouts. As a chemical exfoliate, salicylic acid helps reduce blemishes and controls oil production.
